Welcome to Tar River Poetry's submission manager. We are currently considering poems for our Fall 2024 issue.
To submit, please send NO MORE than five unpublished original poems as a single file. PLEASE DO NOT upload poems individually. Simultaneous submissions are fine as long as you notify us immediately if a poem is accepted elsewhere.
We believe that writers of poetry should also be readers of poetry. With your submission you may conveniently purchase a one- or two-year subscription to TRP, or a single sample issue. You do not have to make a purchase for us to consider your work for publication, and making a purchase will not influence our editorial decision.
However, if you purchase a subscription or sample issue, or if you are a current subscriber, we will expedite our editorial decision. We promise to respond with a "yes" or a "no thanks" within one week of receiving your submission.

For regular submissions, we'll respond no later than June 1st, 2024.

FALL 2023 SUBMISSIONS: We have responded to all submissions received during our fall 2023 reading period. Your submission status is available by checking your Submittable account. If the status is still showing as "In Progress" or "New," please email us with an inquiry at tarriverpoetry@gmail.com.

Due to limitations on our Submittable plan, we have had to start charging a small fee for non-subscriber submissions. We're trying to keep this as "free" as possible with the lowest fee Submittable will allow ($2). We apologize if you came here expecting to be able to submit for free.
Submit up to five poems in a single Word file or PDF. We will respond by May 15, 2023 at the latest. If you'd like a quicker response, consider submitting under one of our Expedited Response categories.
